Repeater Fields
Video Tutorial
This section provides detailed instructions on how to effectively use the Repeater Field in your forms.
The Repeater Field in MakeForms allows you to dynamically add multiple instances of a field or group of fields within your forms. This feature is especially useful for forms where the input quantity can vary, such as forms requiring multiple entries of similar data (e.g., listing multiple team members, event details, or educational qualifications).
Setting Up the Repeater Field
- Create or Edit a Form: Begin by either creating a new form or editing an existing form in MakeForms.
- Add the Repeater Field: Locate the option to add a Repeater Field from the field list and select it to include it in your form.
- Configure Repeater Settings: Specify the settings for the Repeater Field, including the minimum and maximum number of repetitions allowed.
Configuring the Repeater Field
- Select Fields to Repeat: Choose the specific fields you want users to be able to duplicate within the form.
- Limit Repetitions: Decide on the minimum and maximum number of repetitions you will allow. For example, you may require at least one entry but allow up to five.
- Field Mapping: If necessary, map the repeated fields to your database or backend to ensure data is captured correctly for each entry.
Workflow Example: Team Member Information
- Form Fields: Add fields to capture information like team member name, email, and role.
- Repeater Integration: Implement the Repeater Field to allow form submitters to add details for multiple team members.
- Submission and Data Collection: Upon form submission, the data for each team member is collected, allowing for multiple entries to be submitted together.
Best Practices
- Field Customization: Tailor the labels and instructions of the Repeater Field to clearly indicate how users can add or remove entries.
- Validation: Ensure proper validation rules are set for each field within the repeater to maintain data integrity.
- User Guidance: Provide clear instructions or tooltips to guide users on how to use the repeater functionality, especially for adding and removing items.
By integrating the Repeater Field into your MakeForms forms, you can greatly enhance the flexibility of your forms, making it easier to collect variable amounts of information in a structured manner.
