Kansas climate
According to ehotelat, the climate in the US state of Kansas is decidedly continental due to the inland location of the state and the lack of oceanic influence.
The seasons are as clearly recognizable as in Central Europe – but even more pronounced in their extremes. In summer the thermometer rises to at least 30 degrees Celsius. Heat periods in which the temperature approaches maximum values of 40 degrees are just as possible. In the south it can also get very humid, which makes the heat extremely exhausting. In the north of the country, the organism remains less polluted even in summer.
Large temperature differences in the course of the year – that means cold to frosty winters at the same time. Daytime temperatures below zero are common in Kansas in winter, but nocturnal frost values down to minus 25 degrees Celsius can also occur.
Rain falls relatively little in the US state of Kansas, but more in the south than in the north.
Travelers can prepare for almost European climates in Kansas were it not for the tornadoes. The US state is centrally located in the Tornado Valley and after Florida and Oklahoma has recorded the most storm damage within the USA. From April to the beginning of June in particular, severe afflictions from tornadoes in Kansas cannot be ruled out.
In winter with blizzards expected: less devastating, perhaps, but very uncomfortable due to the already prevailing cold.
Best time to visit Kansas
The spring and fall temperatures are comfortable in Kansas, making these times best for a Kansas vacation. With increasing warming in spring, however, the risk of tornados increases, which can largely be ruled out in autumn. In the spring, Kansas can be enjoyed if you keep an eye on the weather report and heed storm warnings.
The US state of Kansas is busiest in early summer : festivals and events beckon. The heat is by no means as exhausting as in areas with extreme humidity – those who can come to terms with high temperatures experience a lively Kansas.
The winters in Kansas are uncomfortable and therefore rather unattractive for tourists.
