The province of Holguin is located one and a half hours from Havana, it is the second most important resort area in the country after Varadero. One of the most beautiful beaches in Cuba is located here – Playa Esmeralda (“Emerald Coast”), the famous Guardalavaca beach with a beautiful coral reef and Playa Pesquero with an exceptionally beautiful seabed. Even in Holguin, the largest bay in Cuba, Nipe, is located, and lovers of sport fishing go to Jaguey Grande: there, in the largest lake in the country, Laguna del Tesoro, there are relic manhuari fish, crocodiles and turtles. Nearby is a crocodile nursery.
According to simplyyellowpages, Holguin is a magnificent nature, hotels with first-class service and a wide range of services. There are 41 beaches on the more than 40-kilometer coastline of the resort.
Hotels
Hotels on the coast of Holguin are more expensive than in Varadero, and the region itself is considered elite. There are practically no “three-ruble notes”, there is little entertainment. In general, the resort is recommended for a quiet, respectable holiday.
The two main hotels of the Emerald Beach are the luxurious Paradisus Rio de Oro and the no less worthy Sol Rio de Luna y Mares. Rest here is very calm and measured, the rhythm of life is a complete merger with the surrounding nature.
