Crazy for Knitting

YARNBOMBING, in Madrid. Guerrilla crochet

Do weave is a fad or do has come to stay? Since three years ago many girls and boys has given them by weaving, crochet, etc. The question is to use hands and creativity. A return to the past, to the years in which our grandmothers or mothers wove their scarves or clothes. The return of this craft is due to several factors: the crisis, stress and a return to the past and do things for yourself. Has also helped the fact that there are shops, associations and groups of Arts and crafts. Of course, Knitting enthusiasts They include many ages and they have evolved. Not only do rugs of grandmother but that they have updated and equipped with modernity. To understand the phenomenon of mad the knitting I have done a tejeril questionnaire between some girls who like this so they tell us their “goings”.

There are different movements around the “knitting” for example the Yarnbombing, called the guerrilla crochet or crochet. They are dedicated to carry out protest or street art covering areas of the city with point. Mad / I of weaving also has a hero: “The masked crochetista” (you have up his own documentary).

It is something that everyone, in several generations of my family, do as a hobby, which taught me was my grandmother, my mother always says happened teach me because it has no patience and I was a little awkward (-_-)’. Joking apart in addition to knitting, I learned how to sew to make patterns, cross stitch projects, and playing cards, grandparents! that well of wisdom (^-^).

Since when are you ins?

Since the 6 years approximately. I was taught to read with 4 and write with 5, so they had to entertain me with something, I guess.

What do you think phenomenon arts & crafts, back to do things by hand etc?

I think it is something that brings more positive things than negative, step to explain myself a little better.
There is greater demand offer multiplies, and materials, patterns, etc., that you’d not find easily a couple of years ago for example now are at our fingertips.
You look no longer rare in the subway, and you can share this hobby with more people, you also always encourage your creativity and it is one way to show another side of your personality.
But to create this kind of say “fashion” there are people who attempted so say it take advantage of something that apparently is now modern or cool. I congratulate those who have taken an entrepreneurial idea of this, but for example to charge 50 euros for class seems excessive.

Where traditional or take ideas when creating your “works”?

Not I would call me “works” soil call them bugs why most of what I do tend to be dolls.
I was given fatal follow patterns so I’m looking for online images that I may like or which serve as base to something I want to achieve and failure error floor base get it (^ or ^)!!!

My mother has had all life a haberdashery and you could say that grew up between needles and threads, making bobbin lace, cutting patterns, selling binding strips and entredoses and making visits to the giant back-office of Uvillos (better known as Pontejos). In my house there is always some work started either my mother or my sister (the true teacher) and my sister is precisely who taught me everything is about wool.

What do you think phenomenon arts & crafts, back to do things by hand etc?

I love that it has both exploited thanks to blogs and networks type Pinterest! I think it was asking and thanks to these networks suddenly has become much more accessible and applicable. I am hooked to that part crafts on Pinterest and every night before sleep I throw a good time looking and getting ideas to apply these techniques to things we use every day, which is precisely what I think has made it to explode as well! no serving know knitting or sewing if you ended not in current use which matches our “modern” lifestyle ..

I love people to begin to appreciate craftsmanship, Pinterest is also contributing to the value of the DIY and of course social networks and blogs. From where comes your hobby knitting and since when you weave?

Always caught my attention and small my grandmother I put beside her to give to the stockinette so that 7 years ago when I went to live in London I aim at a course to see if people knew, but I overwhelmed me English and lasts very little, really makes 2 years yew “seriously”

What do you think phenomenon arts & crafts, back to do things by hand etc?

Seems very good to become fashionable around the theme of crafts aunq I hope something more q a fashion since I believe that we need to value the things made by hand. Also the DIY fosters skills, allows you to socialize, relax, feel happy to do something for yourself and instills other many values as being resolute, steady… this time of crisis also favours all the Slow movement and I think that also is necessary to go back a little to the origins (unless this sounds outdated hippie) to put all a bit in perspective.

I recommend some site where can start me in the world of weaving?
